About NCASCC
The North Carolina Association of Senior Citizen Clubs, Inc. (NCASCC) is a non-profit 501(C)3 membership based organization. The Association was the first state-wide organization formed for the sole purpose of organizing all recreation Clubs for Senior Citizens into one statewide organization to promote, plan, coordinate, and implement activities and events for the older citizens of North Carolina. Representatives from local Parks and Recreation Departments who sponsored Senior Citizen Clubs from across the state met in Raleigh with members of the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Society in 1957 and formed the state-wide organization, which was originally named the "North Carolina Council of Senior Citizens", which later became the North Carolina Association of Senior Citizen Clubs.
Membership in the organization is open to any club in the state of North Carolina organized specifically for senior adults, age 55 or above, with at least six (6) officers. Working in cooperation with the local North Carolina Parks and Recreation (Senior Program Division) and Counties on Aging, NCASCC help to organize local senior citizen clubs, assist local communities in establishing their clubs for senior citizens, and act as a vehicle to promote communication and unity among the senior citizens in the state. It is comprised of nine (9) districts throughout the state. Members participate in various activities that afford them to be leaders, to express themselves, and continue to be active, thus not being isolated from their communities. The activities are conducted by the NCASCC and its member Districts. All NCASCC’s activities are charitable and aligned with its exempt purposes.
